Would like to know if anyone with a GA-Z77-DS3H, i7 2770 processor, 8gb ram has upgraded their multibeast. I installed on one of my drives and now getting a "p state stepper error 18 at step 2 in context 2 on cpu" on that drive. Luckily i have a backup, but has anyone here had this issue yet?

I figured this out. Did nothing in BIOS. I went ahead and recreated a unibeast USB, using the 10.9.3 install, used the older multibeast, prior to the latest release. I went ahead and reinstalled mavericks from the unibeast usb, over the existing drive that kept giving me the error. Install took about 45-50 minutes. Rebooted, got the another error. Rebooted once more with flag "UseKernelCache=No" and voila... booted just fine. Installed the appropriate multibeast settings (using the older multibeast) ran kext wizard, fixed permissions and rebuilt kernel cache, rebooted, just fine. Going rock-solid now.

Here are the steps broken down:

  • prepare a 10.9.3 unibeast USB, use the older release of multibeast
  • boot up using the prepared unibeast usb
  • install over failed partition or drive giving stepper error
  • reboot, chances are will fail again, use -v to see where it fails
  • reboot again if fails, use "UseKernelCache=No" if it doesn't work, try -x
  • Once it boots, run multibeast, apply your settings
  • download kext wizard, run it and select fix permissions and rebuild cache
  • reboot, this should fix the problem
