After installing the debug versions of Lilu and WhateverGreen, and setting the boot flag "-igfxfbdump" or "igfxdump" it seems there's no dump file/data either in the root folder or in IOReg. I suspect that Lilu and WEG are not recognizing the Graphics ID 3E98. I enabled debug log on these kexts and captured the attached debug log. I wanted to use the Framebuffer dump to determine the number and types of connectors.

Current status of Sleep/Wake is as follows:
1. Choose "Sleep" from the Apple menu stops the mouse from moving, but does not blank out the display screen. Whatever was on the screen is simply frozen.
2. Pressing any key on the keyboard wakes the system up.
You can try spoofing Coffee Lake IGPU ig-platform-id. Please see the image at the bottom of this post.

In fact, iGPU works in deep conjunction with GFX0 on iMac. I can safely draw the conclusion due to my own experiment, that is, typing"ioreg -l | grep ig-platform-id" on a real iMac(Retina 5K, 2017) with the ig-platform-id got. When I google this ig-platform-id, I found that id has no connectors at all. So that is why there is no iGPU shown in About This Mac--System Status, while iGPU and GFX0 do work simultaneously rather than respectively.

Alas, ig-platform-id 0300913E (0x3E910003) causes a kernel panic near the end of the boot sequence. I tried Device ID 3E91 and 3E92 with the same kernel panic when using 0300913E platform Id.

The desktop platform ID of 07009B3E (0x3E9B0007) allows the system to boot properly, but with no video output from the external HDMI connector.

I've tried these SMBIOS editions, all with the same blank output from HDMI:
  • iMac 18,2 (i5-7500)
  • iMac 18,3 (i7-7700)
  • MacBookPro15,1 (i9-8950) 15-inch
  • MacBookPro15,2 (i5-8259) 13-inch
  • MacMini8,1 (i7-8700)
I wonder where I can get ig-platform-ids for these models, particularly the MacMini8,1 because it has a UHD630, no internal display, and a single HDMI port...

I still have a couple of things to try. Haven't given up quite yet!

  • With no devices attached, System Profiler --> Thunderbolt shows "Thunderbolt: No hardware found".
Edit 11/27/2018: Updates in Blue.
I think it shows this no matter what, meaning if you have a TB card installed or not.

I think it shows this no matter what, meaning if you have a TB card installed or not.
But with a USB Type-C flash drive inserted at boot, the message changes to "Thunderbolt: No drivers loaded".

Sure, file is attached. I should say that my config.plist is currently in a highly volatile state as I continue to frantically tinker with different settings!
