I was looking into a new computer since my laptop was killing me with how slow it was, after lots of research I landed on the idea to build a Hackintosh. This is my first Hackintosh build. I got the idea from Bob Roche on Youtube and he suggested this site. Thank all of you for the help! This build was fairly easy and I was able to get it (almost fully) working from most of the resources on this site. Have not overclocked it yet, and don't think I will for a long while. I've built it, I love it and I won't go back to Windows unless its for gaming.

Installation Notes
 1. First follow what is in this guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
 2. Before proceeding disconnect every drive besides the USB Drive with Mavericks and the SSD/Hard Drive you will install Mavericks on.
 3. I was not able to boot directly at first so I had to use the boot flags (without quotations): "x -v GraphicsEnabler=No PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x2000 cpus=1 dart=0 maxmem=4096". Your boot flags might vary slightly.
 4. Install Mavericks 10.9.4
 5. After you're done installing Mavericks open MultiBeast and select "DSDT Free" and don't forget to install Chimera or the boot/dual-boot with Windows will not work. (If you forgot to do this at first just boot back up using your USB Drive and select your Mavericks drive.)
 6. After Mavericks is installed reboot with the previous kernel flags (you should be in safe mode). Go to System/Library/Extentions and delete anything with the word INTELHD in it. (I got missing bluetooth Controller kernel panic before I did this step. Backup the files in a separate folder if you want.)
 7. Download Chameleon Wizard and change boot flags to get your system running accordingly. (I will upload screenshots of my org.chameleon.Boot.plist.)

iMessage
To get your iMessage working the process is not complicated but it will take some time. I was able to get my iMessage working using a couple steps.
 1. First go here and read up on it: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/110471-how-fix-imessage.html
 2. I did steps 2,3,4,5a,5c and 5d.
 3. After that it gave me the contact number to call Apple and the representative got my iMessage working.

Wifi & Bluetooth

Yosemite
 1. Boot from Unibeast USB drive using f8 or f5 into Chameleon
 2. Use kernel flags -x, -v to get into installer and install Yosemite
 3. Restart and boot, using kernel flags, into the installation drive to complete installation.
 4. Download and install Multibeast and install DSDT free and any other options necessary (below are the options I used).

 5. Reboot and you should be good to go.
 6. *If you want iMessage to work (as of right now it does not work with Chimera/Multibeast) you would have to change the bootloader to clover.

***Audio I have not gotten to work that is why I am using the external audio card.
***If you have any questions or ways to make this guide better let me know.

Nice. I'm looking at making a similar build, with the 4790K and the GTX 770 4 GB but with still undecided on the motherboard. Is there any particular reason you chose this one? Is there anything about it that makes it better/more interesting than say the typical gigabyte boards?

I bought this one primarily because of the aesthetics, it matched my color scheme. Also, because it's a z97 chipset and because I was planning on getting a second graphics card down the line. I could have gone with a cheaper board but i decided not to compromise.

Hey, I heard you had success with this setup. I am new in the community and am planning on building a machine a lot like yours. I will be getting a 4970k, and possibly the Asus
Maximus VII Formula. The only difference is I will be running the new GTX 970 in SLI. But thats not the point. My main questions are the following, and I would highly appreciate if you will get back to me rather quickly.

How does the motherboard perform? Is it fast?

What is the wattage of your power supply?

Are there any issues with the system?

Thank you so much!

Hey iWa, the wattage of my power supply is 750. I researched it and figured out that it could run well even if I wanted to put two 770s in it. And the only issue I have is that the onboard audio does not work so I have to use a usb external audio card. The motherboard is great, I didnt have any problems with the installation. The cpu yes it is fast. I can throw all my programs that I use currently at it and it stays below 40% utilization on Mac OS X. Hope I answered your questions.

Thank you so much! Please let me know how your system holds up once you upgrade to the new Mac OS X (Yosemite) in the coming days.

Awesome build. I have pretty much the same setup but I have one question. Are you using the included AC adapter for your wireless? Or are you hardwired? Can't seem to get Mavericks to recognize the AC adapter :banghead:

Omg thank you, that totally slipped my mind! I will add this to the guide. Yes as you are having problems with the onboard wifi, it did not recognize my wifi at first but I did get it to work with the wireless adapter that came with the board. I followed a post by Mr-E4GLE on this page http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...s-maximus-vi-formula-i7-4770k-hd-7870-x2.html (post #3) and restarted. After that the onboard wifi was working.
