Finally had some success with my setup.

Ati 6870(1GB) + Ati 6670 (2GB)

DVI + HDMI on the 6670
DVI + HDMI + MiniDP -> VGA (Active Converter) + MiniDP -> VGA (Active Converter)

5 x 22" LG IPS monitors @ 1920x1080
1 x 27" ACD @ 2560x1440

So far so good :)

Awesome. I currently run a 5-6 monitor setup using 3 x NV 9800 GT cards. I needed to do DSDT edits to get it to work initially (1-2 yrs ago).

Now, I'm looking at getting a high-end Radeon, either consumer or the FirePro 7900.

I'm curious what you found useful in getting started with the ATI cards... It's a bit confusing reading the forums and I'm unsure what will likely work OOB.

Thanks,
David

PS. Out of curiosity, what do you use that setup for? I found that mounting monitors above and below was challenging ergonomically for me.

thats why i stuck with 22", anything bigger and my head moves too much :)

I code all day long, so its useful seeing preview, photoshop, 2 edit windows, a preview window and social networks on the other screen :)

Cool. I never did get the FirePro v7900 to work.

Running 2 x GTX670 (relatively recent nVidia drivers support portrait and landscape modes).
2 x 24" monitors, portrait
2 x large (forget the size, but huge), landscape... each of these I can use landscape or virtually split into 2 ports each for medical imaging (6 effective displays total).

Agree that vertically much more than 22 or 24" diag is pushing it...
