I purchased a cheap graphics card because initially I planned on using integrated HD 4000 but couldn't wait for native support so I got the ASUS GeForce 210 which was <$40 and worked OOB w/ GE=Y.
In BIOS, CPU is running at 3.8 Ghz but only shows 3.4 in system profiler. BIOS settings were of no concern on this mobo. ACHI was selected as default...all I had to do was make sure boot priority was in order and then played around with OC and XMP.
HyperX Genesis RAM uses a low profile heat spreader so I can fill 4 dimms (x4GB) and use the massive Cooler Master V6GT CPU Cooler, which just barely fits in the NZXT Case, but looks great. HyperX RAM is using XMP Profile 1 to get to 2400MHz
USB 3.0 Slots are working on the front case but only running at 2.0 speeds.
Installation
Unibeast w/ BridgeHelper - Install to SSD - Patch Kernel - Boot into Lion - BridgeHelper and MultiBeast on Lion SSD
Boot Flags: GraphicsEnabler=Yes
BTW I had major problems loading OSX to the SSD from U w/ B USB (something that a lot of install guides merely glance over). I followed the tonymac guide to a T and I even ended up deleting and recreating 3-4 different Unibeast w/ Bridgehelper Installer USB's (featuring latest versions of each U and B and 10.7.4 downloaded into /App file from App Store). For some reason, Lion installation would get 80% complete and I would have a crash. This happened over 5 times and I was going insane since there is little support for this step of the process. So if you are having problems with this initial Lion to hard disk install this is what I did, which was all trial and error and I claim no causality for any of this:
- 1. Removed 2 Dimms to go down to 8GBs of RAM
- 2. Patched kernel per Tonymac Lion installation guide on to the half installed Lion SSD before I tried to re-install OSX to SSD. The "Lion" SSD that had crashed at 80% appeared in the Uni boot screen as a bootable option but would not boot. So I figured why not patch the kernel before reinstalling, so essentially I moved the "cp /Volumes" up one step and patched before I installed OSX.
- 3. Plugged in the ethernet. (Why not, right?)
- 4. Tried various combos of boot flags (-v, -s, PCIR=0, DSDT=N, GE=Y, GE=N, m_k, etc). Just about any and everything I read in the forums. GraphicsEnabler=Yes is the only one that worked and I still use.
- 5. My BIOS version is F5. Initially I updated to F8 but then I switched back because the DSDT file was in F5.
Not Working:
WB WiFi Card included w/ Mobo (using Ethernet, which is working),
USB 3.0 runs at 2.0 speeds
System is very unstable, kp's often on almost all types of workloads (geekbench, iphoto, playing movies, etc)
