I am pretty new to this, but have managed to get Mac OS High Sierra installed and running pretty flawlessly on the above hardware.
I am dual booting with Win10. I chose to try a HT as an experiment. This PC is a DAW for professional audio work. As Mac OS makes it a lot more straight forward to record system audio than Win10 and recording ASIO audio, I will be using the HT to make reviews and tutorials for audio related things. Possibly also recording and mixing with Cubase Pro 9.5 and Studio One 3.5.
I just followed the installation guide, using UniBeast to create the USB installer and then MultiBeast to finalize things.
I ran into a couple of issues with the install. For some reason my system time was being changed during the setup, and it was preventing MacOS from finalizing the install (saying it couldn't continue because the installation had expired). After booting back into Win10 and the BIOS and setting the time correctly again, I reinstalled and the installation was able to complete.
The other issue that I ran into was some graphical glitches. I had to select iMac 14,2 as my system profile in MultiBeast, and it has worked great since. Surprisingly smooth sailing.
Next thing will be to test whether Thunderbolt (TB) is working or not for my audio interface. I believe that any TB device needs to be powered on before the OS loads. I think that this has to do with the TB stack and how it loads.
My interface is both USB and TB capable and switching to TB while in the OS just comes up with a 'not connected' in the audio interface control panel.
Very late here, but happy with how things have gone so far. I'll update people on the TB situation as if I can get that working it will be pretty much perfect.
I have the onboard audio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the motherboard disabled in the BIOS as they are known to cause issues with audio drivers.
LAN is working perfectly.
Intel Graphics is working perfectly (1080p, iMac 14,2 system profile in MultiBeast).
USB ports are all working great.
Mains powered USB hub is working great, as are external hard drives.
Antelope Zen Tour audio interface is working great (so far only in USB mode though).
The only thing annoying me is that I haven't found a way to disable the mouse scroll wheel acceleration...
I tried switching to TB connection before booting to the OS, but so far I have not been able to get TB working with my audio interface yet, but I will keep experimenting and update the post.
