Hey all
I have retired my 1,1 Mac Pro even after a cpu swap and decided to go for a HACKINTOSH
Old Mac Pro 1,1 specs;
3.0 Xeon 5160 x2 ---Swaped to---> 2.33 Xeon E5345
9Gb ram
ATI 4870 1Gb video
Geekbench 2 64bit score 6864 (before swap) 9007 (after swap)
cinebench ~50f/s
So the new hackintosh is built for gaming under windows and graphic work in OS.
Here are the parts list:
I5 4670K
GA-Z87X-OC
MSI GTX760
G.Skills 8GB 1866 ram
TP-Link WDN4800
Corsair H75 cooler
Thermaltake V4 w 500psu (cut costs)
1Tb hdd (using old hdd to cut costs)
OS Mavericks
Windows 8
The process was so easy, I really expected hiccups (the H75 didnt fit, but thats all really) but everything booted like it should! The only thing I had to change is the boot order so that OS boots first. I used apple migration and that moved everything from my old Snow Leopard to Mavericks with no issues!
Since then I have nudged the CPU to 4Ghz Auto with the following results:
Geekbench 2 64bit 13760
Cinebench 141 F/s
Big thanks to tonymacx86 for the guidance!
