Comments:

I decided to build this machine to render artwork for my business. I wanted something with moderate power around a budget of $1200 US. Since I render in Iray, getting a GPU with a sufficient amount of CUDA cores was a priority. I wanted to build a Hackintosh because I enjoy the macOS, I find Windows to be unusable as a daily driver, and I cannot render in Linux. This was my first time building a computer.

I based my parts list on the July recommended parts here at TonyMacx86. I chose each part based primarily on price and customer rating. I tried to get parts that had good reviews, I think I succeeded! SSD's are an absolute must, so I got one for my OS and another for storage (games, resources, etc). The motherboard seems to be limiting how much I can OC my CPU, but I'm satisfied with 4.2GHz for now. The CM 212 is keeping it in the high 50C/low 60C during renders, with the help of some Arctic Silver thermal paste. The GPU hits the mid 60C range during load, I'm eventually gonna try to shave a degree off of that with another front case fan.

I used the "vanilla" install method for High Sierra. I disabled and reenabled SIP when installing Nvidia drivers, preventing any installation issues there. I still had some issues getting my rendering program (Daz Studio) to recognize my GPU, but a little plist-fu fixed that. I've also turned off Nvidia auto-updates just in case. GPU is sometimes finicky at the beginning of some renders, but restarting the app usually fixes it.

What Works:
Ethernet, Nvidia & CUDA drivers, Temperature sensors, Bluetooth (unreliably), Sleep/Wake, No hang on shutdown 95% of the time, App Store, Xcode, Macports, FUSE, Audio via port on mobo and front of case, all USB ports

What Does Not Work (or I haven't checked b/c not important to me):
Wifi (currently no adapter), airplay, airdrop, handoff, iMessage, iTunes, Facetime, HDMI audio

Benchmarks:
I ran each of these once and screencapped em:

Hello. Just built a very similar machine. Same motherboard. Curious as to what your multibeast build looked like. Would you mind sharing?

Hello. Did you used Clover for booting? Can you share you config.plsit please? I'm stuck on crossed line with Non supported OS message

Can someone share their multibeast configuration?

Would you share some insight with a noob? I have the same motherboard & CPU, and got stuck while booting the High Sierra Unibeast installer from USB.
