[SUCCESS!] GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3, 2500K, 5770

Hey all, I figured I should post my success story from installing ML to give others the courage to go for it.

My Process:

  1. Create a UniBeast flash drive from my Lion installation
  2. Format my spare hard drive to GPT/Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
  3. Reboot to the Unibeast drive
  4. Install Mountain Lion
  5. Reboot to the flash drive, but selected the ML HDD
  6. Ran MultiBeast (selections below)
  7. Deleted all network devices in System Preferences/Network and deleted /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist. This was due to the fact that ML listed my Wifi card as En0 and my Ethernet as En1, and I needed Ethernet as En0 for App Store/iCloud etc. to work.
  8. Rebooted and added back my network devices, starting with Ethernet.
My Multibeast Config: View attachment Untitled.tiff

So basically an extremely simple install! I'm so excited.

Working:

  • Sleep
  • SpeedStep (I'm not 100% sure, but I'm definitely getting min/max states and bdmesg reports 22 P States reached. I'm using the Multibeast i5 SSDT.)
  • Audio
  • Airdrop
  • Network (LAN and WiFi)
  • HIS 5770 (No lag, artifacts, or anything. Just using GraphicsEnabler=Yes.)
  • Dictation ( I realized that my iSight camera had to be turned on for the mic to work.)
  • SATA drives are detected as internal SATA drives with 3rd party SATA kext from Multibeast, even though my board doesn't have a 3rd party controller.

Not Working:

  • DVD Player (Error -70012: A valid DVD drive could not be found. This error makes no sense because the system recognizes my Optiarc otherwise.)

This board works great (especially with UEFI). My DVD drive works fine with DVD too (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH20NS15) so maybe it doesn't have to do with the board.

My additions to yours are:
IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector
TRIM Enabler (SSD for me)
FakeSMC (I thought this was a must?)
System Definition Mac Pro 3.1
i5 SSDT

And I dont use any of the Fake SMC plugin.

My questions are:

How do you use AirDrop? Do you need a wireless card?
I will check DVD player and give feedback.
What about USB3. It does not seem to work fine, then maybe my drive is slow.
USB Charging of iPad, this never worked in Lion either, guess it needs more juice.

Do U have F10 bios DSDT for this motherboard?
And can i use Your "User DSDT" with my GTX580, ... etc...?

Well if you're not hot swapping HDDs, I would recommend using 3rd party SATA instead of IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector as it works better. Also, I didn't select FakeSMC or MacPro 3,1 because they are installed by UserDSDT. Also, I did install the i5 SSDT.

The fake SMC plugins are useful for monitoring temperatures on various hardware components.

AirDrop can be enabled by entering

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1
in terminal and pressing enter. This will enable it for any wireless card and also for ethernet LAN.
I have never used the USB3 kext in MultiBeast because it caused kernel panics for me.
Try the red USB ports on the back of the mobo for iPad charging.

How can i check speedstep?
Sorry, but i'm noob :)
Before 10.8 i have 10.7.4 CustomBeast (can i extract and use 10.7.4 DSDT from CustomBeast or from 10.7 partition?) :)
 
Sure Speedstep doesn't work :)
Why U installed Lnx2Mac Realtek driver? My ethernet work fine w/o it... For iCloud/Facebook?
