Comments:

Total build cost: $714.94
Total build time: 60 minutes

  • A fairly easy build. MOBO, CPU, RAM and SSD and that's it.
    Case came with 300W PS.

Total install time: 90 minutes.

  • Initialy got confused between UNIBEAST and MULTIBEAST for creating the Lion install USB flash drive.
Downloaded OSX Lion while building the computer. Took about 40 minutes to download.
I used my MBP to create the installation drive. My MBP already had Lion already installed, so I had to Option-Click on the "Installed" button in the app store to re-download it.
Took about 12 minutes to use UNIBEAST to create install drive
Installation of OSX Lion on new build took about 10 minutes (Also, you need a USB keyboard and mouse to do the initial installation)
Restarted, and hooked up the new build to my Time Capsule/Airport Extreme, but wouldn't get a proper DHCP IP address. Somehow, restarting the computer fixed the problem.
Ran MULTIBEAST, initially just with user DSDT, but realized that I had to select some options to get my sound and ethernet working.
Used the CustoMacMini MUlTIBEAST selected options and reinstalled MULTIBEAST which initially failed
Apparently MULTIBEAST creates a TEMP directory on the desktop which must be deleted before reinstalling MULTIBEAST

Benchmarks and Build Pics to come

does sleep work? and vga out?

I'm a little afraid of buying this mobo.. jeanthebean817 why your build doesn't work? because of the mobo? :shifty:

Is sleep when it shuts down the monitor? Yes that works. It goes to screensaver after 15 minutes and then it shuts down the monitor after an hour. I DO still have problems with artifacts from HD3000 I think.

no that is just the monitor turing off for saving energy I think.. I mean sleep from the apple menu in the top (you can choose between shutdown, reboot and sleep.. it is a sort of "windows" standby)
to wake up from sleep usually you just need to move the mouse or press some keyboard keys.. please report if also vga out works, sorry for the questions but I am buying a h61n and really need vga out and sleep ;)

thanks a lot for the feedback ;)

VGA is not supported in Mac OS X for....a long time. Only DVI, HDMI, Displayport.

for the h67n there is a fix.. they are using it with qe/ci and full resolutions.. they achieved it editing kext/dsdt I think there is a thread in the forum (vga fix or so)..

I was wondering if that works also for the h61n..

that was I meant.. I knew that.. but don't know if works with h61n too.. that's why I am asking if anyone with h61n can try and share the result ;)

Quick update: sleep works most of the time, but do I get random freezes (not during sleep mode per se). Only one of these freezes occurred during sleep mode (or getting out of sleep mode). While most of them occur randomly while using the computer. I probably need to restart the computer about once every 3 days because of freezing but I can live with that because it starts up so fast anyway (with the SSD and all). I still get major artifacts from HD3000 using DVI. I get white lines across windows, mostly on safari, but nothing too annoying. These lines will usually will go away by minimizing and reopening the window.
