Hi there,

After starting a post called "Stupid question about the RAM", here is a post about the hard-drive needed to built a hackintosh. I've seen somewhere--can't remember where--that there is a block sector size constraint. The hackintosh should have a hard-drive with 4k block sectors? Is that correct? Or is it 512? I really can't remember :problem:

Also, can someone tell me why there is a such requirement? Because, on regular Macintosh, it is possible to use both kinds, so I'm not sure to completely understand...

Thank you for your help ;)

Stupid question about hard-drives

Great, thanks for the answer.

So, if I understand correctly I want a hard drive with a default block sector of 512 bytes, is that correct?

Thanks

Yes, that's how you avoid the boot0 error, but 512b sector drives are becoming scarce as all the manufacturers are moving towards 4k sectors. The workaround is extremely easy to implement though, so it's a non-issue.
