Stuck on white Apple loading screen after Combo Update

Hi, I have this same error BEFORE installing the combo update.

Installed 10.6.0 from retail.
Booted in using iBoot to get past the registration screens (using -x).
My USB drive with Multibeast etc on it wouldn't be recognised so I rebooted again.
Now if I boot with any flags at all, I get this error and can go no further.

I'm going to start from scratch, but presumably this will happen again?

:(

Incidentally, I have the same HDD as the other two guys in the thread - Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - which is the only connected drive.. Presumably that's the problem, which is strange as it's the recommended one from the CustoMac Pro build :S

My error message this time is:

disk1s1 ioctl(_IOR,'d',79,4) is unsupported.
disk2s1s2 ioctl(_IOR,'d',79,4) is unsupported.

:S

I have now!

Use iBoot to boot from your install DVD again, and Verify then Repair the disk (even though it says it verifies ok and doesn't need repairing).

That fixed it for me.

Has anyone had success with this drive?

Schlaboong12, did you get this fixed? I've come across exactly the same issue as you. I also have a 5770 - not sure if this has anything to do with it?

I have not. I'm not sure how the other poster was able to get it working. I can't boot using iBoot either after the first time. The 5770 should work fine. I'm not sure if the problem is with my hd or my motherboard.

It's got something to do with the combo update. I can boot using iboot for 10.6.3 but as soon as I apply the update to 10.6.6 I can no longer boot.
