Stuck on Black screen with moving cursor

It was working before when i was using HDMI to DVI but now signal is no longer detected. Hence i am using DVI to VGA cable, it works well with windows but on Mac OS X 13 i experience the following:
when i use -v it works but graphics are tereble and nvidia web drivers are not used.
However, if i boot with just enter, i can only see cursor on black screen.

I have this same problem. Cant get past it, in Verbose mode it is getting hung up on Apple ACPICPU, maybe unrelated?
