let me rephrase - is there a mac OS that will support my current hardware?

Only if you get a supported AMD gfx card. Then you could try and install Monterey or Ventura.

You could try using an RX6600 by AMD. I have not seen any successful builds here with your MSI motherboard. You can try it but it will take a lot of effort and time. Much easier to just buy a used Mac mini to accomplish your goal.

OK - got it. I just read something about Apple switching to AMD so there's no point trying to continue.
I suppose I could buy an old Mac Mini (I've had several in the past), but that's not worth it either.

Thanks for clarifying!

As stated previously, you can do it in Windows.

Yeah, actually not. I've tried multiple methods (FutureRestore and Legacy-iOS-Kit) and they all fail on Windows 10.
Been at it for weeks!
Trying to build a Windows 7 partition but that has it's own complications too.
