Oh, I think I know what could be the problem, in config.plist there is a path for Bootx64.efi that says

<string>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1,0x1)/Pci(0x0,0x0)/NVMe(0x1,11-22-33-44-55-66-77-88)/HD(1,GPT,00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000,0x800,0x64000)/\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI</string>

and my guess is that it is pointing to the wrong device. Could it be the problem?

attached is my latest EFI (you will need to add your own serial number etc)

hold the left alt button when you turn on the laptop to see the picker and choose to reset nvram, the laptop will then reboot

Yep, now USB boots flawlessly, thanks man.

Will try now to switch to Opencore with files that you've provided and try to do the full upgrade from Mojave. Even if it fails, I can at least install clean from this USB that is functional.

I guess this will be my last OSX install anyway on this laptop, kind of sad, I loved the challenge :D

those files also work on Big Sur as well

@Feartech Just to inform you, I've successfully upgraded from Mojave to Catalina, booting from that working USB drive. Later copied EFI to my hard drive partition and OSX now boots directly, everything seems to be working nicely.

Thanks again,

Cheers :)
brill! fantastic! :)

Hey @Feartech I've just updated regularly to 10.15.7 and everything went smooth, booted ok, but it seems that I've lost graphic acceleration in the process, everything seems to drag painfully (scrolling, moving windows, animations in apps). Have you experienced that problem, have any config changes suggestions?
