I have an i5-9400 Coffee Lake cpu that I'd like to build a hackintosh around, but it seems as the 3xx series boards are really tough to come by. Does anyone know of a compatible MoBo that is readily available that's not too expensive (say, less than US$150)?

Amazon US has the Gigabyte B365M-DS3H available for US$69.99, and the Asus B365M-A for US$65.99. Both should be compatible with MacOS (Mojave / Catalina / Big Sur assuming you are going to use CPU integrated graphics).

OK, I bought the Gigabyte board you suggested and have Big Sur installed. I'm updating to 11.4 as I type this. The system seems stable in all aspects, except for a video issue. When I boot the computer, as soon as it gets to the login screen, the display goes blank, then it goes to sleep, then in a few seconds it awakes and I'm on the login screen. From there, everything works as expected. But I'd sure like to get this screen issue resolved. Any idea what might be causing it?

Edit: This problem seems to also affect wake from sleep. When the display goes to sleep, I have to click the space bar and mouse button several times. But even then it takes about a minute to wake up.

Thanks.

You should update your profile to match the system you are seeking support with. Then you should make a new post in the Big Sur Support sub forum, with maybe a video of what you are describing.
