Strange issue with sleep on hp-f158nr

You are right. It went to sleep but after ~4 minutes. From assertions I see nothing about time. Can I reduce this time?

It is possible your ACPI LID device is not working due to ACPI not being patched correctly (for example, no evidence of "OS Check Fix" patch).

See guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-patching-laptop-dsdt-ssdts.152573/

system_OSYS_win8 applied. Did not help -- 3-4 min before sleeping.

You should probably debug your _LID method. It can be done with ACPIDebug.kext.

And no further ideas without all details as previously requested...

At the first glance it really complicated technique. Thanks, RehabMan, you heavily helped me. 3-4 minutes not so terribly if after it will go to sleep (but my perfectionism is suffering all 3-4 minutes. joke). At least it possible to click on apple-sleep regime.

There is a specific patch that will enable instrumentation for _LID. So, it is fairly easy to apply so you can see if it is 1) being called, and 2) returning the correct values (read ACPI spec).

Lid was closed once and after going to sleep opened.

There are several instances of _LID being called, but not completing the method (never returns a value).

You should investigate.
