About This Build:
This system was the fifth complete build of a CustoMac [hackintosh just sounds nasty]. After building a MacPro5,1 clone [GA-X58A-UD3R based], before that several Core 2 systems, before those my [R.I.P.] Original Intel 20" iMac, and my first 'modern' Mac, the original G5 Mac Mini.

Of all my previous builds, I am specially pleased with this one. It went together simply and rapidly. It also worked out of the box with no problems.

I did set the system to report as an iMac12,2 as the majority of the components are very similar to a real iMac of that generation. This enables full power control, sleep, and pays tribute to my dead iMac.

Comments:
Using the nVidia GTX560Ti requires a bit of plist 'altering' to provide full power state controls (and not to mention performance).

Do the install per the basic Unibeast create and install directions.

Once you have booted from your internal drive, in my case my ADATA SSD, then you can alter the AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext to enable.

Open a Terminal:

Now, I'm a VI geek, so I use it all the time, but, hitting / and typing iMac12,2 followed by return/enter will search for the text and put the cursor on that text.

Once you finish adding the section in question save and quit (type) :wq (return).

And from the same terminal, rebuild your system's boot caches.

For reference:
Cinebench OpenGL scores: 44.5 FPS

This is with a slight over clock from enabling XMP profile of the RAM, which bumped the BCLK to 106 MHz, resulting in a 4.02GHz boosted clock. The only thing I had to do in BIOS extra was crank the PWM slope to 2.5PWM/C to ramp the stock Intel cooler fan up faster to keep up with the heat under full load. Doing that, idle CORE temps hover at 28C, while under full load they float around 70C; a little warm, but still within design spec and the processor stays in turbo boost the whole time.

Edit 1: I realized after reading the forums that I forgot to mention that I disabled the onboard graphics (in BIOS, set Enable only if no other GPU is found).

Edit 2: 2012-04-05 Removed Bluetooth USB and Swapped out BT Apple Keyboard for a Apple Wired with Numeric Keypad. HOWEVER! I had to plug the keyboard into my 4 port powered USB 2.0 hub, which is connected to the red USB port just above the PS/2 KB/Mouse connector. This allows full sleep/wake function from either mouse, keyboard, or power button.

Edit 3: 2012-04-18 Finally, after a day of troubleshooting; I was able to figure out that the Optical Drive Listed in the new parts list is keeping the system from sleeping on its own. Unplugging the drive allows the sleep timer to expire and go to sleep without "PleaseSleep.app" -- So, I'll be replacing that drive with a Sony next time I order/pickup new parts. Minor update to control-id in AGPM.kext/Contents/Info.plist

build looks great! May I ask for some more info on the :Official Bluetooth? Is that dongle like object a PCI-e peripheral?
 
It is a USB module from a G4 Macbook Pro, iFixit has them without antennas - being a ham radio geek, I just made my own simple dipole by desoldering the factory micro-coax connector and soldering on two 2.5cm 22-gauge solid copper wires; one to the former shield pad, and the other to the center conductor - they both leave parallel from the pad to open space with they each turn 90 degrees to form the dipole away from the pc board.

I have it soldered onto a USB header block which is plugged into the motherboard - one of the "on/off charge" ports. These ports supply a little extra current that in tests of various onboard ports, makes the module and regulator happy.

I love 3M's command strips - the refills are cheap and come in lots of different sizes, and should you change your mind; come off just as easy. Using one of the smaller strips, I mounted the module and antenna to the inside of the lower front panel of the case. This get the module and antenna outside the RF protective metal chassis; the plastic is basically invisible to radio signals.

Though, I have noticed after a week or so of use; during a restart I sometimes need to hit enter on my hidden USB keyboard as something stops Chimera from countdown booting - and whatever that is keeps my from using the BT keyboard. Minor issue in the grand scheme - I've put an apple wired keyboard on my list for my next visit to the mall. I miss the numeric keypad anyway.

Did you manage to get the usb3 ports working? Mine are not recognized at all...

How about the HDMI-audio?

This is used to enable power management of the GTX560, without it; the card stays in low power (idle) mode - which is great for being idle, however, even flash animations and desktop effects need to bump the card up a notch, if for even briefly. You can visually notice the card stuck in low power/performance mode because even launchpad and mission control effects 'lag' or stutter.

Well, I can put a usb 2.0 device into those ports and it is recognized - I don't have any usb 3.0 to really test them with.

Is there ANY way I could get some help from you on MY MacTosh? I have the exact same MB, but I'm using an i3. I can NOT get this to work. It gets to about 60% on the installation of SL & reboots. Since you've got so much experience with these maybe you could give me some tips?

Did you have to set something specific in the BIOS?

Thanks for sharing this. I got exactly the same build except for the processor (i5 2500K) and keyboard/mouse. I can't get the correct "wake up" after sleep working. So the computer goes sleep well (power is down, monitor, hard drives, etc...) but when I wake it up (either mouse move, keyboard hit or power button works) it actually don't come back to the suspended state, but rather boots up the system normally (loads the OS all over again). That's strange.
I tried both DSDT from Tonymacx86 database and MacMan's and it's the same on both. I also tried different "hibernatemode" settings (0..3). Wake up still boots the OS again. Did I forget about something? Maybe something in the BIOS? I got hte Power Management set to S3. Any help would be appreciated.
