Ssd does not show up in disk utility

hey guys my drives isn't showing when inside my build but shows when its in a external encloser... what gives... regular hdds work fine, for now i have my os installed on a hdd and i want to upgrade to myssd ive had from a previous build(windows 7)but im not seeing my ssd in the disk utiliy

Not enough information. What kind of external enclosure are you using?

its just a normal usb 2.0 enclosure bus powered it works in there but wont read when i use a sata cable

What SATA chipset are you connecting it to? Perhaps it is a chipset not supported or only supported with "3rd party SATA". Or perhaps you have those SATA ports not in AHCI mode.

well those same ports work when i plug in a hdd.
