My current motherboard is a X58 board, the ASUS P6T7. I have 2 questions to ask; Will this work with the Vanilla Kernel, and if not, could somebody suggest a P55 board that can take the i7 975 Extreme (Socket: LGA 1366)?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

You can't use a P55 board they are Socket 1156

Re: Motherboard suggestions...

Basically the P55 motherboards are all based off of a structure designed by Intel - and obviously Intel would choose to use the less-expensive P55 boards to house their less-expensive LGA 1156 sockets.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, unless you do some extreme modding, you're not getting a i7-975 to work on P55. i7-9XX = 1366. i7-8XX = 1156.

And to your first question - what I say is that "if you have the hardware, it's always worth a try." And once you realize it doesn't work, you can post it online for us to all know! :D

Ok, do X58 boards work with iBoot Supported (Vanilla Kernel)?
