[Solved] USB 3.0 Not Working Z370 Aorus Gaming 7 + Intel Core i7-8700K + GTX 980ti High Sierra

Most everything is working on my recently created setup, but unfortunately none of my USB 3.0 ports are not functioning. The Apple System Report (new version of the old System Profiler under About Mac) shows all my USB 3.0 ports as part of USB 2.0 hubs (see attached picture).



Oddly enough, USB 2.0 and USB 3.1 (Type A and Type C on this mobo) ports are working fine with all devices. Even more odd still is that I can't find any other people who have USB 3.0 problems with this build - everyone else reports USB 3.0 works great.

I have been diagnosing without posting here for several days. I think I have everything setup properly and am very puzzled why USB 3.0 is still not functioning. Here is what I have done, am I missing anything?:

I have the latest BIOS for the mobo installed (F7 as of mid-september 2018). As far as I can tell, have properly installed the necessary kexts and kexts/kernel patches to enable full USB support.

Tested USB ports in Windows - all USB 3.0 and other USB ports work fine.

My installed kexts in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ are:

I have attached below screenshots of my Kernel and Kext patches, and the Apple System report which shows that my USB 3.0 ports are seen by the system as USB 2.0 ports instead.

Questions I have (both for myself as I continue to diagnose and if anyone has any thoughts):

Should any of the kexts above be installed in /System/Library/Extensions or /Library/Extensions?

Are there any kexts or kernel/kext patches which are causing this problem?


Does anyone have any idea how I should proceed next to get USB 3.0 functioning? Any insight would be really helpful. I'll keep updating this thread for future googlers who have this same issue. Thanks!

May need PMHeart’s patch for 10.13.6 to remove XHCI USB Port Limit to /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist.

This fixed it. I already had this patch in there, but the problem came from having the old patch in there at the same time. Thanks mate!
