Hi,

First I wanted to thanks the people involved here for such an amazing project.
I am very impressed by this project.

I have some issues with USB 3.0 and an external drive, it works on the front panel (Although visible in finder but not on the desktop), but when I plug it in the back it's not recognized. Other devices works in those ports.

I've tried the instructions for USB on this thread with no success :
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/native-usb-2-0-usb-3-0-on-skylake.202787/

I'm a new user, and not very experimented.
My board is the Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Ultra Gaming.

Otherwise everything appears to be working.

Anybody have a clue ?

Thanks

Thanks for the tip RehabMan, but as much as I want I'm afraid it's beyond my capacities for the moment.
I guess I will leave it this way for the moment and investigate when I have more time.

Would a pci USB 3 card work ?

You should not give up before you try. Plan on creating a custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext. You will find the guide linked from the thread I provided earlier. It is not that difficult.

I had some time and gave it a try, thanks for the guide and the pointers.
I seem to have enabled the back USB 3 ports, but IORegistryExplorer doesn't show the trimmed USB ports, they still appear.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Read guide, post #1, "Problem Reporting".

Thanks for the reply, I've attached the files.

I mainly followed the companion guide to make custom SSDT.
I am quite new to this and it took me a lot of time :)

Your kextcache output shows that USBInjectAll.kext is not installed.
Confirmed by ioreg.
The SSDT-UIAC.aml you have in ACPI/patched has no effect without USBInjectAll.kext.

Thanks for checking this RehabMan, I will look into this.
Will the port discovery still be valid after I've installed the kext?

Generally, you need USBInjectAll.kext in order to do the port discovery (need all ports injected for the testing process).
