In a recent "Buying Advice" forum topic I posted, the tonymacx86 community very quickly helped me iron out all of my concerns and confusions regarding the hardware-software interaction for hackintosh. Here is a link to the topic I am referring to: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=20034

My goal is to develop a gaming supercomputer, that also would run OSX as smoothly as possible without any issues, as well as install very simply and easily.

From what I can tell, the following hardware will allow me to accomplish this feat using only Andy's boot CD and MulitBeast:

I would like to year as many "yays" or "nays" from the community before I make such a hefty expenditure.

I am not looking for advice or opinions regarding hardware preferences. I am merely looking for any technical pitfalls that I have failed to gather through the community, or other people have failed to communicate to me.

I want the installation of a dual-boot Win7/OSX to be smooth and sturdy.

Thank you all very much for your feedback.

Re: Ready to start - Need you to fire the gun!

Hey again :p

I dont see why it wouldnt work.. and BTW if the RAM isnt perfectly compatible, why not go for a different brand 1600 DDR3?

You know the procedure of installing a Dual Boot System, right?

Re: Ready to start - Need you to fire the gun!

Since you're using two diff SSDs, The procedure of dual booting would go like this :

1. Connect only one SSD, and one optical drive, and install Windows 7 on it.
2. Unplug that drive, put in only the second SSD, then install OS X on it
3. After installing, make sure, that in Multibeast, you choose Chimera 1.3
4. After OS X is fully up and running, connect the other HDDs :)

To make sure you CAN dual boot, make sure the boot order goes like this :
Code:
1. OS X SSD
2. Windows 7 SSD
3. The other 2 TB HDD

Congrats once again :)

@sonigaurav2006 - Thanks a ton for your continued support through this operation.

About the RAM - G.Skill RAM is top-of-the-line, and the specific RipjawX series is built specifically for the new Sandy Bridge technology. One other person who has been helping me out a lot (@user: dejongj) has mentioned that his OSX machine is not able to take advantage of the whole 16GB. He did, however, only have 4GB installed during installation (which from what I understand, you don't need to do anymore).

I really hope someone with some intimate experience with 16GB running on their hackintosh would chime in.

Awesome! Yes, this procedure is layed out in a few successful user build forums, though not specifically with my hardware set-up. I really hope we can alleviate my RAM concerns before I make a buy!

Also, it would be a great shame if the process did not go as smoothly as described above. Spent too much time figuring this stuff out to find out its all wrong :)

Re: Ready to start - Need you to fire the gun!

Found this: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=18178&start=10

about people having issues with RAM. Can this lead us to an answer?

Thanks again for your help.

Re: [READY] Supercomputer Hackintosh - Needs your approval!

I think all is said already with great advice, so just registering to keep updated :)

Now in theory there is no reason why G.Skill shouldn't work but I would get wary when they don't even have the Sabertooth P67 in their own configuration list. I wished I had that wisdom before I bought it. I bought mine for the red colour as that look great against my motherboard :D

When I come round to it I probably just go for Corsair Vengeance or something like that.

Great. We can leave this thread in the interest of:

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=18178&p=128962#p128962

Everyone: BE CAREFUL if choosing G.SKILL RAM if you are using a P67 board !!

There has been many reported issues. Follow the thread above.

Everyone: STAY AWAY FROM G.SKILL RAM if you are using a P67 board !!
I wouldn't make that statement generically, it is specifically regarding the Sabertooth P67  And then with a specific type model number...

Re: [READY] Supercomputer Hackintosh - Needs your approval!

Oh, my apologies.

I assumed people were having issues with all P67 boards.. even though people could get the sticks to work, it wasn't "Plug-and-play" ... I will edit the message.
