It depends on what the user normally does on the SSD. Micron explains Trim for macOS pretty well. If the usages are light-weighted, enabling Trim on macOS may be marginal for performances, but it will be more helpful when the user frequently writes files to that SSD.It's true a lot of modern SSDs have trim and garbage collection in their firmware. I haven't been convinced of the need to add OS-side trimforce for a few years now. No problems. Shows in System Report as Trim = No. Certainly don't experience quicker or slower boot times.
I think I need someone to explain why I'm wrong ...
At least the difference about writing speed is noticeable for me, and Trim could help sustain the lifespan of an SSD longer.
