[Solved] Some programs don't use default browser

I have a few programs that refuse to open in the default browser set my Apple > System Preferences > General > Default Browser > Chrome.

For example, Electrum Wallet is an app that always uses Safari every time I access it's documentation. Odrive is another app that always uses Firefox when opening announcements or the help documentation but I can find no setting anywhere to change this and both app authors state this is an OSX thing and nothing to do with them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Apparently it's a bug fixed in 10.12.6 and another thread refers to this even though I couldn't find this issue specifically mentioned. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1930
