I finally achieved what I wanted - it wasn’t a hackintosh issue at all, I just needed to change the speaker configuration on my AVR in order to accept 7.1 channels. Embarrassing. Essentially an audio routing issue. It seems having my AVR set up with a 5.1.2 config seems to render the .2 part inaccessible to a regular multi-out signal. A very annoying fix, because it doesn’t truly reflect my set-up, and means going through the AVR set-up each time I want to switch back to ‘normal’. Hey ho, at least I have it functioning now. Thanks for your help!
