[SOLVED] macOS Sierra Installation stuck

Status
Not open for further replies.
If you mount the EFI partition , it comes on desktop. Even if you don't 'eject' that EFI partition from the desktop, once you reboot it should disappear. That is normal.

All that you need to do is to copy the EFI folder inside the EFI partition of the USB installer and Paste it over the EFI folder of the Sierra HDD to replace it ; dont keep both, don't merge, just REPLACE. When you mount the EFI of Sierra HDD , the dark grey disk shaped EFI will be seen on the desktop in contrast to the white EFI of USB installer. Double click the EFI icon it will open and show you the Blue EFI folder you want to replace with the Copied EFI folder from the USB Installer, I hope my images posted earlier will help.
I worked! Thanks A LOT man!
Really really thanks! You made my macOS fully working now!

I really appreciate the time you spent on me!:):)

 Very happy to be of help to you. I hope others with a similar hardware facing issues like you had will benefit from your efforts documented in these pages. I am sorry I had some difficulty communicating clearly with you but glad everything ended well. What do I have to change into these folders?
nPG3tCn.png

The guy of older posts, told me that it is a panic code made by ALXEthernet or AtherosLC1.
What do I have to do?

First Delete ALXEthernet from that folder . see if the problem will occur again.
If problem occurs, start a new post , upload the image of the problem boot screen and someone can analyze and help you fix that.

If you have the same ALXEthernet in your /System/Library/Extensions folder or /Library/Extension folder you may have to delete it and then run "Kext Utility" ( download & Install) or "Kext Wizard(download&Install) and perform "Repair Permission and Rebuild cache".

Terminal commands to delete kext:

sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/NAME_OF_THE_KEXT_FILE.kext

Then, remove the kext folder so it doesn't autoload once again on reboot:

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/NAME_OF_THE_KEXT_FILE.kext

PLEASE NOTE: "Any NAME_OF_THE_KEXT_FILE.kext" is not a file, it's a folder.

I solved removing ALXEthernet.kext from the 10.12 folder (saving it into the desktop).
Restarting.
I got once again the Error Report and internet stopped working. So I re-put ALXEthernet.kext into the 10.12 and restarted.
Mac turned on without any Error Report and internet started working again! :)

There you go!:) That means you need that. You may have to pay attention to your system and document everything.

If I were you, I will try to get a SATA Hard Disk of equal or bigger size than the current Sierra System disk and Clone it to the new disk and keep it safely.

You can then be bold to experiment with the current one. I have left a short writing on this Forum about cloning with Linux Freeware "Clonezilla". I cannot recall where but you may search and find.

You can also clone your current good Sierra USB installer to an equal sized or larger USB Flash Drive preferably with a Flashing LED.

All you have to do is to use "Disk utility" to Erase it to "USB" like you have done to create the original Install FD.

"USB" will be on the Left Panel of DU as well as on the Desktop
Next connect your current Installer as the source USB FD.
MasOSSierra USB installer will be on the Left Panel of the DU and on Desktop
Next click on the "USB" from the Left Panel of DU and go to Disk Utility Menu on the Right Panel and click on "Restore": menu
Make sure in the"Restore from": box you select your macOSSierra USB installer NOT your SIERRA HDD or anything else that might be there in the drop down menu
Now click Restore button at bottom Right of that small window
It can take a while and will show "Done" when completed
You will have a brand new spare USB installer with Flashing LED:)
Try testing it for bootability to installer screen.

Whan I tried changing the USB (that you suggested), I used a USB with a LED. Now, I will let that USB as it is. I mean, I will never touch it! I have 10 more USB keys so I have no worries about that ahahah.
Anyway, I have an SSD (250 GB Samsung EVO 750) and a TOSHIBA EXTETNAL DRIVE (1 TB) where I can back up macOS Sierra. :)

Once again, thanks for your help!
I renamed the discussion as "SOLVED".
