[SOLVED] Installer does not see HDD/SSD, but BIOS does (AHCI mode enabled)

Hey everyone,

I'll try to keep this as short as possible! I've built a CustoMac Pro and I'm following the latest Unibeast guide (link). I'm able to get to the installer, but once I open Disk Utility, it doesn't show me my HDD or SSD. My BIOS recognizes them, however. From searching, it seems like most people solve this by enabling AHCI mode in their BIOS settings, but I already have that enabled.

Potentially noteworthy: I'm not 100% sure if my other BIOS settings are correct. The guide is generalized, so the steps in bold are the ones I followed for my specific motherboard:

1. To access BIOS/UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up
2. Load Optimized Defaults
3. If your CPU supports VT-d, disable it
4. If your system has CFG-Lock, disable it
5. If your system has Secure Boot Mode, disable it
6. Set OS Type to Other OS
7. If your system has IO Serial Port, disable it
8. Set XHCI Handoff to Enabled
9. If you have a 6 series or x58 system with AWARD BIOS, disable USB 3.0
10. Save and exit.​

I couldn't find anything about CFG-Lock, Secure Boot Mode, or IO Serial Port. I'm also not sure how to figure out if I have an AMI UEFI BIOS, AWARD BIOS, or something else.

Things I've tried:

• Booting with kexts injected (same issue)
• Booting in safe mode (this doesn't work - it restarts my computer before reaching the installer)

My entire build:

• Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming
• CPU: Core i5-7600K
• Video: EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB SSC
• Cooler: Corsair H60 (Water)
• RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT (32GB)
• SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB
• HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
• Power: Corsair RM 650x Watt
• Case: Corsair Carbide 300R

If anyone has any ideas or has experienced the same problem, I would really appreciate the help!

Go into the Disk Utility, press View > Show All Devices, then quit the program and relaunch it.

Hey, that worked! Thank you so much. I totally tried "Show All Devices," but hadn't thought of quitting/reopening the app!

• I have the same MoBo.
• I have successfully installed HS on it using cpu Intel i7- 7700K and both its Intel HD 630 and later using Radeon 5450 as Graphics and then updated to the current .
• I had the same problem of 'missing HDD/SSD in Disk Utility' at the Installer screen of High Sierra USB Installer.
