I haven't found another topic discussing exclusively this CPU.
Perhaps people could post their system definition an Geekbench/Cinebench scores to get a feeling about one's system.
As far as I read, Speedstep isn't working yet for Gigabyte Z68 boards - any comments?
I tried several options, iMac, MacPro...
GenerateCStates and GeneratePStates in smbios.plist make no difference for me, CPU Voltage is fixed at 1,40V (1,41V with load).
10.6.8
Darwin 10.8.0
64bit
MacPro3,1
GenerateCStates Yes
GeneratePStates Yes
Geekbench 32bit: 8990
Cinebench 11.5: 5,16
Thanks!
Update:
So I always thought Speedstep isn't working with the i5-2500K and my board until eMatoS told me otherwise: iSTAT shows a false Voltage; Booting in 32bit and using MSR Tools reveals that everything is indeed working fine.
(Mac Pro 3,1 | GenerateCStates=Yes | GeneratePStates=Yes)
Although I use a PCIE graphics card, OSX wants to load the drivers for the HD3000 (i5-2500K) and delays the boot process ("SNB Framebuffer did not show up, unload")
Adding the correct ID fixes that:
