I am attempting to build my First Hackintosh based upon the 2011 HackMini build prototype using the GA-H61N-USB3 board.

My board came preloaded with the "F4" BIOS.

Do I need to downgrade the BIOS if I want a successful build?

I am currently able to install 10.6.3 (imaged to a 16Gb thumbdrive) using iBoot 3.3.0.

The only changes I have made to my system are the Realtek ALC8xx, Lnx2Mac RealtekRTL81xx and System Utilities from the latest Multibeast (3.10.1), and I am about to push Chimera to the HD (WD Caviar Blue 320Gb -- old enough not to need the 4096/4k fix).

Recap, so far:
- BIOS settings (AHCI/HPET-64bit/USB3-off)
- 10.6.3 install via iBoot 3.3.0
- Via Multibeast 3.10.1:
- System Utilities
- Realtek ALC8xx
- Lnx2Mac RealtekRTL81xx Ethernet
- Stable boots (No KPs, crashes, etc) into 10.6.3 using iBoot 3.3.0 with working Internet. Audio is not working (Line, Headphone, HDMI tested).

Thanks for the help,

-Dave

If audio is the only issue and you have a Realtek chipset you also need to install AppleHDARollback.

In BIOS you also need to enable S3 sleep if you want to avoid issues.

SnapMan,

Thanks! I will try that.

I am now up in 10.6.8 (right this minute) and haven't looked into the AppleHDA rollback yet.

I forgot to apply the UpdateHelper prior to 10.6.8 combo, so I slicked and re-installed.

I ran MultiBeast using Easy Beast with no kexts selected before the update, and I did not have the AppleHDA rollback available as a selection...

Still haven't rebooted without iBoot disc yet, either.

Okay, I am booting straight in from the hard drive now, not iBoot CD.

Booting takes a while... like a minute at the apple and grey wheel screen...?

I booted into 10.6.8 to no Internet, so I am running MultiBeast with System Utils, and the Lnx2mac RealtekRTL whatever kext. I am also loading OSX apps.

Right now, I am tempted to get a copy of 10.7.2 and go to Lion, as I have read that many ppl here say why bother with Snow Leopard anymore.

Thanks,

-Dave

Rebooted again into 10.6.8 with no hassles, except the minute or so at the Apple and grey wheel screen.

I go into Safari and try to pull up this site and get the "kaleidoscope of death" color-wheel thingy... Its almost as if my OSX install is warning me away from the site, lol.

So I have to "Finder" and force quit Safari...

All told, I feel that I made a lot of progress tonight.

Remaining things to do for this build:

- Get HDMI audio working
- Get GeForce 210 1Gb PCI-e 2.0 "Silent" working w/HDMI and Audio
- Get FireFox or other browser which will allow me to access this site!
- Install second
RAM stick.
- Figure out if I need to downgrade BIOS and apply a known "working" DSDT
- Clone install or swap HD and attempt straight UniBeast/Lion install

Thanks for all contibutors, especially TonyMac and developers iBoot and MultiBeast.

UPDATES:

- Boot time from progress bar in Chimera to desktop is under a minute and a half.
- Changed sleep (ACPI Suspend Type = S3) in BIOS, see above.

Re: David's Build - GA-H61N-USB3-F4 - BIOS HELP, PLEASE

Just decided to apply NVEnabler kext based on a few posts here... viewtopic.php?p=6610 and here... viewtopic.php?f=15&t=21940&view=previous

NVEnabler finally took after a few "soft" and one "hard" reboot.

My 1080p TV is now being pushed HDMI from the GeForce 210.

:D

That's a relief. Well on my way to a CustomacMini HTPC!!!

Now, for some Audio...

Thanks again for all the contibutors!!!

My MultiBeast 3.10.1 has no AppleHDA Rollback feature :|

Re: David's Build - GA-H61N-USB3-F4 - BIOS HELP, PLEASE

Now no audio at all.

I have tried to reapply the kext for 88x audio several times in MultiBeast but have no audio options listed, whereas I had all options (headphones, line out, etc.) before.

My audio has completely died

On the bright side, my boot time has improved, and I have 1080p video :p

No Rollback???

Look MultiBeast/Drivers & Bootloaders/ Kexts & Enablers/ Adio/Realteck ALC8xx/ AppleHDA Rollback

I am looking at it right now in that version.

SnapMan,

Thanks, I found it. I had just been selecting the parent and apparently loading everything, which was probably interfering.

I am going to try again after building my UniBeast stick.

UniBeast has been holding on the last bit of running package scripts. and hanging there but not "kaleidoscoping" or anything, just taking 45 minutes plus.
