[Solved] Black screen on reboot/shutdown/closeSession

Hi all,

When I close my session (or any other session ... I even created a new one for testing purpose) or I reboot the mac, i get a black screen with the visible mouse.
I can be stuck at this step for hours, nothing changes.

It's like this since my updates to 10.13.3 supplemental.

What can I do to fix this ? To discover the source of the problem.

Hello,

I still need help.
The problem always occurs on shutdown or reboot from any session.

Can it be related to nvidia web drivers ?

I am having this same problem. Don't think it is related to Nvidia drivers because I am using onboard HD 4600 graphics. I am unable to install the 10.13.3 supplemental upgrade as a result. System is a GA-H97M-D3H with Core I5 3.49ghz CPU. Has been a pretty solid little hackintosh since 2015.

Try to reboto with a command line like :
sudo shutdown -n
This will force a clean reboot, and if you choose the right entry in clover, you will than install the supplemental.
As the supplemental has the same name "10.13.3" as the regular update, I gave some tries before getting this supplemental installed.
This will not solve our problem of black screen.

Uninstalled AVIRA. -> no black screen anymore.
