Re: ALC889 (not "a") Audio - GA P55A-UD3R - Not Working

Ok, I used kext for your UD3R.

Now on boot I can hear a bang in speakers like when audio is turning on when launching Windows, but in OS still no sound.

2nd thing: it changed info in my Audio (Built-In) now is there:

  • Device ID: 0x1458A102
    Audio ID: 12
    Available Devices:
    S/P-DIF Out:
    Connection: Internal
    Line Out:
    Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
    External Microphone:
    Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
    External Microphone:
    Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
    Headphone:
    Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack
    S/P-DIF Out:
    Connection: Combo
    S/P-DIF In:
    Connection: Combo

P.S.: I'm thinking about dropping VoodooHDA.kext on top of this. What do you think about it?

Did you try this kext? http://www.mediafire.com/?z01fznwnumn
That's for the 889 (without A) and should hopefully work.
And people, please do at least try to research a little bit and post the correct information, it really helps. ;)

Nope. Still silent :(
And Audio Built-in info changed back how it was in 1st post.

EDIT:

Ok, I installed back cmagic's UD3R kext and here are verbose messages
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2998886/P1040007.JPG

other kext making no messages in verbose (or, are too quick for my eyes  )

Re: ALC889 (not "a") Audio - GA P55A-UD3R - Not Working

I read a lot pages of THIS post... It look like there is no solution for ALC889 (NOT ALC889a), yet.

So I will have to wait.

THX 4 All Your Help :!:

Re: ALC889 (not "a") Audio - GA P55A-UD3R - Not Working

Sound work with my GA P55A-UD3R with the ALC889.
I use analog green and black outputs, and pink micro.
The dsdt is made by tonymac. kextx are from tonymacx site ( i just use 2 kexts legacyhda in extras/extensions and applehda (original) in /system/library/extensions) i don't have voodoohda installed.

I don't know how you did that... not working for me.

Just in case, I did it this way:

Removed all Sound kexts I played with... rebuild cache (with Kext Utility)... restart
Reinstalled 10.6.2 combo update... restart
Copied LegacyHDA.kext to E/E... rebuild cache... repair permissions (with Disk Utility)... restart
Installed AppleHDA (with Kext Helper b7)... rebuild cache... repair permissions... restart

Guess what ... not working

What i'm doing wrong?

P.S.: I'll be back tomorrow about 4:00 PM CET.

I don't know why it don't work for you
So i make a new zip with my boot, info.plist, my extra directory and /system/library/ added kexts.

PS: I manually deleted the extensions.mkext in /extra and system/library/caches
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I8KL79T4
SnowLeopard P55A-UD3R.zip

Edit: i use the lastest bios (F6a)

MAN! I LOVE YOU
Your Edit saved my ass, I had Kexts Installed from yesterday, I saw your post edit, about F6a bios, I updated it and now, FINALLY, It's working ;)

THANKS THANKS THANKS A LOT!
