I have Have Lion working amazingly rock solid! I went to install the Nvidia driver and it says "No driver update needed"

I downloaded and installed NVEnabler 64.kext Correctly I beleive....

Cant adjust screen resolution though...

Any clues? I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion. With Snow Leopard I was able to install the driver and change resolution...

Any clue to kick me in the right direction...

Thanks in advance... :beachball:

Now it says unknown video card... I am going home now with my hackintosh in arms... Had to work on it at my job so my wife dont kill me...

ANy clue?

NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS is my card...

Go to About this mac > More Info> System Report> Graphics/Displays and copy the Device ID

Now go to System > Library > Extensions, right click on NVDAN50HAL.kext and click Show Package Contents
Go into Contents and copy the Info.plst file to the desktop, now open this file with textedit, paste the Device ID, you copied, under the IOPCIPrimaryMatch <String> directive, and then copy the rest of the ID start from 10de from one of the lines below.

The ID string you build should resemble the ones already entered and should match exactly in the amount of characters.

Save this file and drag it back into the contents folder, replace this time. Now run System utilities or Kext Utility and reboot.
Hopefully you should be able to see the new resolution options

I run the same card and have never had an issue here is a shot of my E/E.
it may give you an idea for kexts.i have used this card in all from tiger up...
on 10.7.3 now and i also have CUDA

Plugged it in and all resolution's showed up... duh..

I have 8400 gs snow through lion 10.7.3.
Just use enabler in Multibeast.
Those CUDA drivers are fine too but only for Open GL.
I used Multibeast 4.2 and Chimera 1.7. just check enabler in Video.
There are NV drivers in Multibeast but have a caution on them.
You actually may get less performance with them.
The drivers in 10.7.3 are the most recent and compatible.
Tested with Cinebench and Open GL Extension Viewer.
You shouldn't need anything else.
Assuming your card is old school.
Just VGA and DVI.
The newer cards with HDMI sometimes cause problems.

You will get the error msg you described if you try to install older drivers or machine def does not match...IMAC and Mac Book Pro cannot use other video basically..apparently install checks this
or like you said just plug it in .. been there lol

things do work better when plugged in dude.

Haha yes, I was using a dvi to VGA adapter on my crappy work monitor...

Got that sorted... Only thing left is how to get this to wake up my monitor from sleep...

Sleep works for some people and then others it just wont work..
if you look through the forum you will find different fixes for different setups...
_____________
but in saying that What is going wrong with yours.
does it sleep at all?
can you wake it up?or do you have to reboot to wake it???
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
there is a few fixes around for people, here on the forum and osx86.com and other places...
