Slow random writes on nvme ssd

The only WD NVMe in the top 25 on Amazon is the 2TB PS5 w/heatsink version of the SN850. Used for storing PC games. A waste of money imo. Games load faster but seems to be a misuse of a perfectly good boot drive.

I've always used Crucial 2.5" Sata based SSDs in my builds going back till 2011. The MX500 500GB or 1TB is always my first choice for a macOS boot drive that doesn't require NVMe speeds.
