I want to build my own Mavericks server with about 8 TB HDD space. I was thinking about buying a new Mac Mini when they hopefully come out end of February, but together with an external enclosure it will probably be too expensive, so i'd rather consider a Hackintosh in a big tower with HDDs residing inside the enclosure.

How did this setup work out?
1. What is the overall noise level?
2. What is the HDD reading and writing performance?
3. Does this work with two ethernet connections at once (Link aggregation)?
4. Does sleep work? Can you wake the machine from sleep?
5. How much energy does it actually use when in normal operation?
5. If you own a Fritzbox: Does the FritzBox Wake on LAN feature work?
6. Does the motherboard allow virtualization for running Parallels Desktop efficiently?
7. Are you using the HDDs as a RAID, and if so, in which mode exactly?

Best,
Karl
