Sierra on the GA-Z170X-UD3

This is my first build...I'm new to building a pc so I was very relieved when I got to the bios without too much problem.

Tired the basic install but didn't have luck so I came to this Guide

I'm assuming that is the right place based on my build specs. I upgraded the bios to f7c, Configured my usb ports but now I'm stuck with this error when I tried to create the installer: I get this message:

Erasing Disk: 0%... 10%... 20%... 30%...100%...
Copying installer files to disk...
The copy of the installer app failed.

and after this Disk utility doesn't recognize my usb stick (tried with 2 different sticks)

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

After I did a restart the stick appeared and it contained the installer and with 2 days of muddling around I now have a booting copy of Sierra on my build.
