Hello,

I am planing to update my current build a bit... (or not).
I want to avoid using discrete GPU bc the high prices,
but also I want to have a bit updated OS version.
So I need a low but decent iGPU, but it must be cheap.

(Now I am on Nvidia High Sierra.
It's an aux computer to my main Windows10 machine where I usually develop desktop apps.
I just want to have a macOs mainly to run Xcode to compile multi platform stuff o some iOS maybe.)

I have near offers to switch to:
Intel i3-10100 (decent iGPU or very slow?)
+
Asus Prime B460m-a R2.0
or
Biostar H510mh/e

Do you think it's possible?

After looking for buying advice and into the forum a bit,
I didn't seen any build using these parts.
I have seen some Z490m / H470m.

Any recommendation of what to do is kindly appreciated.

Should I forget and stay in my current i5 6500?

Regards!

You can't use a 500 series motherboard like that Biostar if you want to use CPU integrated graphics. A 400 series motherboard like that Asus with a 10th generation Intel CPU like the i3 10100 should allow you to run the latest MacOS Big Sur / Monterey.

You may be able to use your current i5 + H110 system to run Big Sur or Monterey but you will have to use the HDMI port and not the VGA port as MacOS does not support VGA.

Thanks a lot @Jamesbond007
there's not many recommendations about 460 chipset but I'll search in depth.

what do you mean with lost windows?
btw I will not install Windows then.
I am planing to stay on 6500/H110 and to install Big Sur.
