SOLVED Short Break/Pause while booting

Hey!

I have a problem since I upgraded to Mountain Lion. It persists in every version (10.8 - 10.8.2). Everytime I boot the hack it "waits" after RTL81xx@xde00 initialization and before "Kernel: Got boot device". The strange thing is, that there is no break visible in the logs! See the attachment, it seems to continue in the same second there. BUT when I boot verbose I see that it stops between those two messages :(

I already reinstalled with different options to isolate components and the error didn't occur in Lion (10.7 - 10.7.4).

What can I do here to shorten the boot time and solve this problem? I'd really appreciate your help here!

Really no one having that kind of problem? :(

The problem seems to be gone with MultiBeast 5.1 :) It hangs only for 6 seconds instead of 30 before.

Hey!
I too have this problem, I'm sorry I don't have a solution, but were in the same boat...It has this like 7 second pause that the computer just sits there...just bought an SSD and still waiting like 15 seconds to boot, but if this pause would disappear it would be like 7 or 8 seconds...

I had this problem after cloning my HDD to an SSD. 30 seconds delay.

System preferences...Startup disk... Ensure your disk is actually selected (i.e. highlighted in blue)

You can check the console logs after. OS X will go through a verification of the disk before it is actually assigned as the startup disk. This needs to be done even if you have only one disk.

I think the delay (for me) was OS X was scanning for the UUID of the old HDD, and after 30 seconds moved on to the SSD.

Setting the startup disk made that go away for me.
