shift select hotkey not working

my shift hotkey to select multiple items is not working.
i can click and drag a selection, but i need to select multiple items without draging a frame.

left or right shift key also on a wacom tablet is teh shift key binding not working to get a selection.

any idea what is wrong or how to solve this?

Help us out. What keyboard are you using?

I have a Corsair K65 that had that problem but it was not due to the keyboard but an add on that I used to control the lighting effects. I deleted that software and fixed the problem.
