Hi

My Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H appears to have bitten the dust. Does any one know if the 8300 series will support the unlocked processors? I have a I7-3770K that needs a home.

Not official support, HP never put any "K" CPU in one. You can still use one in it, just no overclocking options. With the cost of nearly non-existent Ivy Bridge motherboards sky high, the HP 6300 or 8300 makes a lot of sense for your CPU and ram.

Buy one that comes with an I3, very inexpensive, swap that out for your I7. Then follow the 6300 Pro guide in my signature to install macOS. Simple.

That is what I had in mind, but I didn't want to get "Processor not supported" on first boot. I don't care about official support.

The Mini-Tower version of the 8300 Elite with I7-3770 is on sale now at Newegg. Has 16GB of DDR3 Ram Cost is $383
Just this much ram by itself costs over $115 today. An I7-3770 is worth about $150 or more.
