It HAS TO work, the new Mac Mini has the same HD2000 in it (i5-2500T).
Any positive comments welcome

Are you sure about that? Apple claims it is a HD3000.

"2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with 3MB on-chip shared L3 cache"

The only thing out there that matches this is the Core i5-2500T (T = low power edition, makes sense for the mini), Intel says it's a HD2000 only

Hmm, my Lion install fails as well for reasons related to the HD 3000. In verbose, the installer hangs at "transcript offline - buffer pool allocate [181000]"

My guess is that both 10.6.8 and 10.7 detect the HD 3000 and attempt to initialize it incorrectly, and it can't be correctly initialized on this Acer laptop. I'd like to tinker with some of the fixes you guys are trying here, but I can't even successfully get 10.6.8 to boot with a display, or 10.7 to install. Is there any way to force the OS to use the 'generic crappy' drivers for displaying, like it uses in 10.6.3, so I can actually INSTALL OSX and THEN try to get the HD 3000 working? Afterall, the display works fine in 10.6.3, but that's because it has no idea what an HD 3000 even is.

It's because you're using 10.6.8 and not 10.7.0. Upgrade to Lion and it will work... that's what this is for.

It's because you're using 10.6.8 and not 10.7.0. Upgrade to Lion and it will work... that's what this is for.

I was hopeful because this was in the Snow Leopard section as well. I still want to use Snow Leopard because of its NTFS write support, but I also want to have QE and 1080p.

Are there kexts inside /System/Library/Extensions I need to delete? And if I upgrade to Lion in the future, will non-reference 6950s be supported?

Hey guys im having trouble with installing this kext i have a i 2600k i already modified the kext device id and set the graphics enabler yes string and after instlal and reboot it freezes on the apple logo picture anyone know what im doiing wrong>???

For all those having trouble

1. Get full resolution but no video (No QE/CI)
2. Nothing working at all

Check out my guide (link below). I believe this method will work for most people until maybe chimera or chameleon can inject device id's for us.
