Sapphire R9 290 Tri X on El Capitan

Hi,

This card was working with full acceleration on Yosemite by making changes in the Clover and using Fake ID as 0x67B01002 and using the FB name as Baladi.

I am now on El Capitan and the I have tried the same methods and also some other methods including :

1.Devices > FakeID > ATI = 0X67B01002

Graphics > FBName = Baladi

Graphics > Inject > ATI = YES

Both of the settings are not working for me. Card is getting detected as AMD 290/390 7 MB.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong and why it is not working.

Make sure that FakeID is actually working: You can verify it by observing the "Device ID" in your System Profiler -> Graphics.
You might need to enable "FixDisplay" in Clover.

Hey thanks, Fl0rian, for the reply.
I will check the Device ID, the problem is I have used someone's config and now the system is stuck on black screen. I am trying to resolve that by making another clover bootloader on USB.

Hi, had the same problem with a Sapphire 7950 dual-x boost. Your card, as mine, is a non-refernce card with 2 DVI's. Download https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/ the BIOS of your card but with reference card layout. Check in clover Load VBIOS and inject ATI, then place the BIOS you downloaded in ROM folder on EFI partition with the name of the device id ex 1002_679a.rom. Don't forget to put ".rom" or will not work. That's it.

Hey solo643! thanks for helping me.
I am a little confused which rom should I download, the one mentioned for my card or the one with other reference?
I have downloaded this rom "Sapphire.R9290.4096.140320_1"

Also do I have to put any fakeid and fbname or something or just by ticking inject ATI it should work?

Your ROM is not the issue at this stage. The device ID is just wrong so the driver doesn't pick up the card.

I also think so. The card worked by injecting fake id and patching the kexts in Yosemite.
Since you're "Graphics Guru" you will know the best. Since I have used someones else's config I am not able to to get back to my system. It is only booting in the safe mode which does not allow to mount the EFI and hence cant replace my config.

It's always a good idea to keep a working copy of Clover on an USB drive, especially when experimenting...

Is it possible to change config in safe mode?

I was was able to boot using the integrated graphics and make back to the original config.
I have attached the SS of System Information and you can see the device id showing as 0x67b1 is it right?
