Hi, i'm trying to install Mountain Lion on my Ivy Bridge Samsung Series 3 but am having no success. Try activating AHCI mode from auto to manually enabled. Just getting ready to try booting with legacy and laptop support.

Hi taikentsuken,

I know this post is a bit old but I wanna know if you could have done the job.
I have exactly the same laptop. Install work fine but the system won't restart without the usb key.

Only Keyboard, trackpad, screen, BT ok.

I've tried many configuration and a lot of install. All seem worsened the situation.
Currently it works best without using MultiBeast.

I try to find more informations on this forum but there's a lot.
Any news are welcome.

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

Mobo: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
Mobo: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Note: When specifying your bootloader, if using Clover legacy, please be sure to specify "Clover legacy"). Specifying "Clover" will be assumed as "Clover UEFI"

All partiton was erased. There OSX JHFS+ and 3 empty more for futur OS in FAT32 (win, ubuntu, debian)

Actually I can't (I don't know how) use CPU-Z to find more details about the chipsets. I don't know if I can access to a shell to catch more information. Not very familliar with PC like I am with Mac.

The command : system_profiler | grep Processor give me no more information

system_profiler -detailLevel mini give me (simplified) :

Ethernet Cards : Realtek RTL8168E/8111E PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet
Inetl HD graphics 3000 : 1366 x 768
Hardware : MacBookPro 8,1 unibeast.tonymacx86.com / SMC : 1.30f3 / illumination : 1.4a6
SATA / SATA Express : intel 6 series chipset / AHCI V1.3 supported
Software : OS X 10.9.5 (13F34) / Kernel : Darwin 13.4.0 /

OS X actualy run with the usb key. that's all.
BIOS config :
Legacy USB support enabled
UEFI Boot support Disabled
AHCI Mode Control Enabled

If you know more commande to know more about the hardware, I take.

OS X was mount with unibeast 5.2.0

I can check chipset with ioreg:
Attach ioreg as ZIP: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/58368-guide-how-make-copy-ioreg.html. Please, use the IORegistryExplorer v2.1 attached to the post! DO NOT reply with an ioreg from any other version of IORegistryExplorer.app.

You should know your screen resolution. Please add it to "Graphics" part of your profile.

You will need to be specific about the problem(s) you're trying to solve.

The resolution is already in the graphic part of my signature : 1366x768

Actually it's just impossible to run OS X without the usb key. For the internet I will use an usb-ethernet adaptator. No need wifi. No need sound. Just run without the key. The graphic is ok.

You need to install Clover to your HDD in order to boot from HDD...
