Safe OC settings on i7-930

I just want to add that every overclocking guide I've read for the i7-930 says you should keep the multi at either 19 or 21 for best efficiency. I don't know why, but when I was at 4.01GHz (21x191) everything worked great (near 13,500 geekbench). I did have some issues with coming back from sleep and youtube videos causing a blank out and requiring a restart, so I'm back at stock for now. Definitely a different beast overclocking in OSX versus Windows.

I thought I'd share my results after I followed this guide I found (I've posted the link to the guide here viewtopic.php?f=49&t=7029)

I got as far as BCLOCK=180 , CPU x 21, Vcore = 1.25v and passed but was getting temps of 70-75 and I didn't want to try 190 x 21 as I thought things might get a bit too hot with my CPU cooler.

So I've scaled it back to CPU x 19, but with Bclock = 200, and SPD x 8.
I had to up QPI/VTT to 1.355 to get the ram to pass with that high bclock.
So CPU @ 3.8Ghz (4Ghz with IntelTurboBoost) - and Ram at 1600Mhz.

With those settings I maxed at 75 on Maximum on IntelBurnTest and it's been stable on 8 hours of OCCT with LinPack - Max Mem options.

I found that guide very useful to take me through my first OC and I'm very pleased with the results !!!

i7 930

thanks
steps please

Please read my Guide and settings http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=7029

Please do not just pick someone's settings and apply them because it is very important that you know what each of the settings does and why you should tweak it.

I'd recommend getting a version of Windows up and running on a separate HD as most of the stability and monitoring applications that are widely used are on Win.

The guys over at TweakTown are very knowledgable and they helped me dial in my overclock to be rock solidy.
