Hello

I have just built my first Hackintosh and so pleased with the results so far.
One thing im unsure of is if it is running at its full potential.

I will be editing and rendering down the line and unsure at the moment
of how to test if it is setup optimally.

Are there any good tests to run to check everything is running as it should,
ie to test hardrive, cpu, graphics, sound, memory etc.. or anything to look out
for?

Thanks in advance.

What specs did you build to? You can download GeekBench and CineBench. CineBench shows you where you stand with other Macs and VideoCards. Google the downloads.

Thanks for the response

I built a:
i7 950 stock
12 gig corsair domiator 1600 ram
120gb ocz vertex drive
2tb drive
sapphire 4870 1gb
gigabyte x58a ud3r

I ran geekbench and got roughly 8800

Just want to make sure cpu, memory etc.. are at running optimally.
Would it be an idea to run the same tests in wondows to draw a comparison?

Thanks

I get around 9400 GeekBench. The mainboard is very important too and if you have one that is listed on the site you can use a DSDT and this will speed up performance.

You are booting on the 120Gig SSD? Make sure your partition is 1Terabyte or less for the 2 TB drive if you are using that one.

You can't compare Windows Benching with Mac because Mac has QE/CI and it won't bench like Windows does and it is normal to have lower scores in OSX.

Thanks for the info

adjusted my previous post to include the mainboard.
I used the corresponding dsdt for my board
So does mine sound about right then?

Thanks

Pretty close to my numbers, I use the MacPro 5,1 and I enable the BIOS to use all the Cores and the other setting that allows the CPU to go to 24x instead of the native 23x. I get around 5.3 in CineBench, the 980x I tested got 8.6 in CineBench it was real nice. My RAM is Corsair 1600 CL7.
