Hi

I had some time today so thought I would update my Optiplex 5050 i6500 with the RX560 to Sonoma.

I currently have 13.6.3 running fine on the machine, so I updated the SMBios to iMac 19.2, and ran the update. The machine updated fine and started the boot process, but would not get to the login screen. All that was happening it was going through the process with all the text, and would then restart the process. After the 6th time I gave up and just rebooted back to my normal EFI and back to 13.6.3 using the iMac18,1 EFI.

I have attached the config file I am using.

Any suggestion on what I am doing wrong please.

Thank you

Have read that a Skylake Hackintosh needs to spoof as KabyLake to run Sonoma... Haven't tried this, but it would seem to favor SMBIOS = iMac18,1 or iMac18,2 or iMac18,3.

Hi

The machine is currently on 18,1 but does not show the option for the update. Changing to 19,2 did and it downloaded but just stuck in a boot loop

Thank you

MacOS Sonoma is not supported on 2017 iMacs (those with the SMBIOS you listed). It is supported on 2019 iMacs and later.

That's why the OP will not see the Sonoma update on iMac18,1.

Just an updated, I change the SMbios from 19,2 to 19,1 then restored my drive with the current version. After this I downloaded the Sonoma Installer and ran the update using that, which updated the machine to 14.0. The from software update I run the update and the machine is now on 14.2.1.

So I presume it did not like 19,2.

Will see how it goes for a bit before moving over to 14.2.1.

Thank you

@OSX790: Have you got hardware acceleration working ? I tried 19,2 but not having any HA on my machine : i6700K headless + AMD RX 570). Actually on 20,2.
Been using it since I got it working and it seems fine to me, what is the best way to check it is working to confirm apart from the Hackintool method?

VideoProc Converter app shows if you have HA working.

I presume I would need to install the app on the machine?

Any other way of checking without installing anything?

Thank you
