Everytime I change a setting or need to authenticate something for an application it requires me to type my password in. How can I disable this all together. I have automatic login but I don't want a password for anything.

Anyone know of how to disable this annoying feature?

Re: Remove password completely.

What you may call "annoying" is a feature that prevents unauthorized apps and viruses from running.

I know Windows doesn't have this "annoying" feature, but it's also very easy to get infected with malware/viruses/trojan on a Windows machine.

Re: Remove password completely.

It's called personal preference and I do believe its my computer so I'm entitled to do what I wish with it. I don't download porn or other nonsense because I use it for business so I think I will be just fine.

I was simply asking for advice or to see if anyone had an answer, I don't however need rude comments from other forum members.

Cheers..

Re: Remove password completely.

I'm not being rude. And I didn't mention anything about porn or whatever in my reply so stop being so defensive.

Just telling you that's how OSX (and Linux/Unix) works (don't know if this is your first foray into OSX, coming from Windows?)

It's a built-in feature of OSX. It will ask for your admin/root password if you're trying to install or modify OSX system files.

If you're only installing programs into the Applications directory, it doesn't need/ask for a password.

Re: Remove password completely.

You can set your password blank in OSX.

Just go into system preferences, users and groups, click on change password and where you should type a new password just press enter. it asks you if you are sure you want to do it, but doesn't stop you. It'll still ask you for your password for installing etc., but instead of typing anything you just press enter.

You can set it to do that in Windows as well.
