RAM banks with different CL

To spare some money I would install 6GB first and when, hopefully, the price decreases the others 6GB.
But it might happen that the sticks, although of 2GB and same brand, could have different CL.

Is this important or can be overlooked?
If the RAM haven't different CL, can this lead to malfunctions?

If you mix CL the system will always use the slower of the two. The same is true for speed.
