Radeon 7970 in 2008 Mac Pro

I'm installing a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3 GB Vapor-X card in my 2008 Mac Pro. Anything I need to know before I install it? Power hook-ups, do I really need to flash the bios on the card first?

Did you get one of these cards? I ask as I'll be looking to replace my 2x 6870's with a single XFX version of the 7970!

I recall reading somewhere on this website that OS X from Snow Leopard 10.6 or so on natively supports this card. I am using a Sapphire 7970 in my Hackintosh with no issues. The card was bought for, and originally used in a Windows computer and I did no BIOS flashing of the card to use it in mt hackintosh. There is, of course, the problem with Chimera not supporting the card, and the solution of putting the bootloader in the EFI partition, also from elsewhere on this siteYou get no bootloader display, just a blank screen until the desktop appears. YMMV.
