My GPU (780GTX) died and I bought a 980 ti. I used to be able to dual boot ML and Win 10. Now I get the apple logo. In the past when this happened GraphicsEnabler=Yes or something fixed it.

I've searched posts and tried various parameters ...

GraphicsEnabler=Yes|No
nv_disable=1|0
PCIRootUID=0|1
npci=0x3000|0x2000
cpus=1

I'm confused about installing "web drivers." How can I install anything if I can't boot? I don't have a Mac boot USB. I have no access to a Mac or any friends with Macs.

Any suggestions?

The boot tends to get stuck at FireWire ....blah blah blah
Sometimes it gets passed that but just stops.

Mobo is old Asus X58 and cpu i7 920.

The only thing that changed is the video card. Help would be appreciated.

The GTX 980Ti and all 'Maxwell' cards require as a basic minimum Yosemite with the additional nvidia web drivers to run correctly. This is noted in the header info of graphics card section of the buyers guide.

Thanks. I wasted many hours yesterday.

But I don't understand why it won't work in vga mode. I thought all video cards had a basic vga mode.

Now I have no access to a Mac. Any suggestions for creating an El Captain boot USB without a Mac?

I heard I could use a virtual Mac but I'm not sure the disc utility would work.

The easiest way into a Mountain Lion installation would be to use a cheap GT210 with " GraphicsEnabler=Yes -x " at the boot screen. Other older OS X compatible cards are listed in the older buyers guides. You may be able to borrow one from someone that you know.

Surprise that " nv_disable=1 -x -v " will not work for you though.

Could have the same problem I have with my EVGA GTX980: nv_disable=1 does absolutely nothing - does not work at all.
